Rehabilitation Wyndham Vale, Werribee & Tarneit

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy involves exercising in a heated pool, which provides support, buoyancy, and gentle resistance during movement. Each of our hydrotherapy classes are run by a physiotherapist where a specific program is created to aid in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

Evidence has shown that a water-based exercise programme produces greater improvements in disability as well as quality of life in those patients with back pain. 1 Whilst exercising in water, the spine and pelvis are supported by buoyancy allowing movements that are normally difficult or impossible on land. Additionally, the ability to work on mobility and strength with reduction in pain via waters weight-relieving properties, allows for sustainable functional gains in the osteoarthritic population.2 Further indications for the use of hydrotherapy include rehabilitation post surgery or joint replacements, motor vehicle rehabilitation, weight loss and improving cardio vascular fitness.

Lap swimming program

Our "Lap swimming program" is a relatively new program that is bursting with popularity.
Recommended by numerous Orthopaedic Surgeons in Melbourne, it involves working with one of our physiotherapists initially who will develop a program in the pool at the Swim4All Centre.
The program will consist of both exercise in the water and lap swimming, in a fun friendly environment to assist with improving cardiovascular fitness, weight loss and controlling blood sugar levels. It is perfect for those with lower levels of fitness or injuries (such as knee pain) that make exercise and weight loss difficult.

The cost is $100 for 5 sessions (only $20 a session!), and gives you entry to the pool and a tailored program by the physiotherapist at the third session. If further sessions are required these are provided for at $25 per session.

Once the program is developed our physios and exercise physiologist who specialise in strength and conditioning will progress your program further to improve your function and allow you to do the things you enjoy in life.

Strength and Conditioning Programs

A Strength and Conditioning program is not just for athletes – far from it!

Whilst we specialise in developing programs to fine tune our top athletes using video analysis, Clinical Pilates, Redcord as well as Strength, Power and Speed development training, most of our work in this field is done on the general population to improve musculoskeletal health and well being.

Only your physiotherapist is qualified to thoroughly assess your needs and diagnosis with regards to a pathology. This should not be trusted to a gym instructor or personal trainer in isolation.

We can structure your gym and fitness program with your injury in mind and work with your trainer to get the best results.

You do not need to be injured to use this service either. Your physiotherapist is highly skilled in tailoring these programs to your needs. Make an appointment today to discuss this with them.

Wellness - Nutritional and Weight Loss Advice

Wellness advice may consist of:

  • Nutritional advice
  • Weight loss advice and Food diaries
  • Improving quality and length of sleep strategies
  • Development of a tailored Gym or Clinical Pilates program
  • Lap swimming program or Hydrotherapy program

You do not need to be injured to use this service either. Your physiotherapist is highly skilled in tailoring these programs to your needs. Make an appointment today to discuss this with them.
